Engineered to reduce the effects of wind chill and retain comfort.
WindWall™ fabrics are engineered to greatly reduce the effects of wind chill while providing the flexibility and breathability to stay comfortable without overheating.
The technology uses a unique fabric-bonding process to offer wind protection that helps maintain the body’s micro-climate while shielding the wearer from the elements.
Many wind-blocking garments have a high-wicking internal layer or include a wind-blocking membrane between moisture-transporting layers.
WindWall™ fabric is treated with a durable water-repellent finish that helps form droplets and repel moisture from the surface.
Reducing the effects of wind chill
When wind penetrates through your insulation layer, your body temperature drops. WindWall creates a barrier to help retain your next-to-skin warmth.
Various levels of wind protection are measured in CFM (the number of cubic feet of air that can pass through a square foot of fabric in one minute at a pressure equivalent to 30 mph of wind speed). The lower the CFM, the lower the breathability. If a product or fabric achieves a 0 CFM, it is 100% windproof—protecting your body from the elements.
Outer shell layer
How to layer
WindWall is used as a wind-resistant technology within an outer layer, worn over insulation, fleece or baselayer. Softshell WindWall pants can also be worn directly on the skin or over a base.
